Budrigannews.com – The fire department said that a Tesla driver in California died early on Saturday after colliding with a fire truck on an interstate highway.
Due to a series of collisions with parked emergency vehicles, U.S. regulators are conducting an investigation into Tesla vehicles equipped with the Autopilot driver assistance system.
In a tweet, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Department said that a Tesla passenger was critically ill at the hospital. After being evaluated, four firefighters, according to an official, were given medical clearance for minor injuries.
After a previous collision, the truck, according to the department, had been obstructing I-680’s laneways.
“Into Tesla’s Autopilot and associated vehicle systems remains open and active,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated on Thursday. The investigation, which began in 2021, was launched in that year. It is looking into whether Tesla cars adequately monitor drivers’ attention.
After regulators raised concerns that the driver assistance system did not adequately adhere to traffic safety laws and could cause crashes, Tesla announced a recall of more than 362,000 vehicles in the United States to update its Full Self-Driving Beta software.
