Sweden and U. S. establish military contacts

Budrigannews.com – According to a statement released on Monday by the Swedish government, talks to form a defense cooperation agreement (DCA) between the United States and Sweden have begun.
According to the Swedish defense ministry, a DCA will establish a legal framework for the presence of U.S. forces in Sweden and facilitate even closer bilateral cooperation than NATO membership does.
According to the ministry, “The United States is Sweden’s most important security and defense partner, both bilaterally and within NATO.”

In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO in May. However, the application is still awaiting approval from Hungary and Turkey.
