Suspect Arrested for Hacking Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate’s Office

Budrigannews.com – A person who was suspected of breaking into Katie Hobbs’s campaign headquarters two days earlier was arrested by Phoenix police on Thursday.
Phoenix police said they arrested someone in connection with a burglary, but they didn’t say anything specific about the Hobbs incident or who was arrested. However, the campaign burglary-related arrest was confirmed by a source familiar with the investigation.
Nicole DeMont, the campaign manager for Hobbs, released a statement in which she stated, “We are very thankful that the Phoenix Police Department acted so quickly to arrest a suspect.”
Concerning the incident, the campaign for Hobbs and Kari Lake, Lake’s Republican opponent, have exchanged barbs in recent days.
Lake, who has embraced Donald Trump’s false claims of widespread U.S. election fraud, has been criticized by the Hobbs camp for failing to condemn threats against election workers and voters. According to Hobbs’ campaign, the conditions for the burglary were created by Lake’s harsh rhetoric and acceptance of Trump’s false claims regarding the election.
Lake has characterized any effort to assign blame to her campaign as “absolutely absurd.”
In what appeared to be the first nationwide criminal referral of its kind this election cycle, the Arizona secretary of state referred an instance of alleged voter intimidation to the state attorney general and the U.S. Justice Department last week.
