State of emergency declared in California due to bad weather

Budrigannews.com – After a week of storms that killed at least 12 people in the past 10 days and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the state, U.S. President Joe Biden approved a California emergency declaration.
The White House stated in a statement that the emergency declaration grants the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) permission to coordinate disaster relief efforts and mobilize emergency resources.

In the past week, severe weather brought violent wind gusts that caused trucks to be toppled, flooded the streets of small towns along the coast of northern California, and generated a storm surge that caused a Santa Cruz pier to be destroyed.
