Spain airport reached agreement with workers and avoided strike
Budrigannews.com – According to a statement made on Thursday by the union CCOO, the planned strike by workers at Spanish airport operator Aena around Christmas and New Year’s has been called off as a result of the company’s agreement to reinstate an annual bonus.
CCOO employees had planned to go on strike on the 22, 23, 30, and 31 of December, as well as on the 5 and 6 of January, in order to get a bonus that was cut during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the union, the company will resume paying annual bonuses in January and March of 2023.
A spokesperson for Aena did not respond.

Spanish unions have been pressuring employers for pay raises in response to rising consumer prices, which has led to strike action in fashion retail and airlines.
Aena’s furlough program during the pandemic enabled it to retain the majority of its employees, so it did not face staff shortages when travel picked up again, unlike other European nations like Britain.
