S&P 500, Nasdaq open higher after soft inflation data

(Reuters) – The and the Nasdaq opened higher on Friday after a key inflation reading came in softer than expected, boosting recent investor optimism that the Federal Reserve could lower borrowing costs next year.
The fell 55.08 points, or 0.15%, at the open to 37,349.27. The S&P 500 opened higher by 7.17 points, or 0.15%, at 4,753.92, while the gained 42.31 points, or 0.28%, to 15,006.18 at the opening bell.
