South Korea and U. S. will create air cars
Budrigannews.com – On Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States announced that it had agreed to collaborate with the Korea Office of Civil Aviation (KOCA) on the development and operation of future Advanced Air Mobility aircraft.
According to the U.S. regulator, the two nations signed a declaration to collaborate, share information on advanced air mobility projects, and promote safety oversight of advanced air mobility projects.
According to Billy Nolen, Acting Administrator of the FAA, “more efficient, sustainable, and equitable transportation options will be created by cooperating with our international partners on safely integrating these new technologies.”
The announcement comes at a time when businesses all over the world are trying to develop and eventually get regulatory approval to use electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL), which are low-altitude air taxis.
In order to harmonize certification and integration plans for advanced air mobility projects, the FAA has previously announced partnerships with Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand in the National Aviation Authorities Network.
Using battery-powered aircraft that can take off and land vertically to transport passengers to airports or on short trips between cities and beat traffic, airlines and others are looking into developing transportation services.
Archer Aviation must meet the FAA’s airworthiness standards in order for its M001 air taxi to be approved for use this month.
After making a similar announcement in November regarding Joby Aviation’s Model JAS4-1 eVTOL, the FAA made the criteria for public comment for Archer’s eVTOL.
