Snap Launches Web Version of Snapchat-Shares Rise

Snap (NYSE:SNAP) announced the web version of Snapchat on Monday, a feature that will allow users to call or message via their laptops.
“Open your laptop and head to web.snapchat.com using Chrome to start a call or pick up where chats left off on mobile,” Snap said in a press release.
The web version includes components such as Chat Reactions and Chat Reply, while the company said it will also roll out Lenses “soon.” The feature has been made available to Snapchat+ subscribers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, and Snapchatters in Australia and New Zealand.
Snapchat+ is a paid version of the social media platform, costing $3.99 per month and providing “exclusive” and “experimental” features.
Snap, which announced the feature at the end of June, said it will deliver new features to “some of the most passionate members of our community.”
“With more than 100 million Snapchatters using our voice and video calling each month on average, we’re excited to offer a new way for our community to keep conversations going on their computers, where they’re already working, learning, and browsing,” the company said.
Snap shares are trading 2% above Friday’s close at the time of writing.
