Small businesses hit by Brexit deal
Budrigannews.com – According to a survey conducted by the British Chambers of Commerce, more than three-quarters of British businesses have reported that the trade agreement between the European Union and Britain has made it difficult for them to boost sales and expand their operations.
The results of the survey of more than 1,168 businesses, which were made public on Wednesday, showed that UK businesses would face significant obstacles if they tried to use the Trade and Co-operation Agreement (TCA), which was signed in 2020, to allow for tariff-free trade with the European Union after Brexit.
According to Shevaun Haviland, director general of the BCC, “businesses feel like they are banging their heads against a brick wall because nothing has been done to help them, almost two years after the TCA was first agreed upon.”
According to the survey, approximately 56% of businesses are having trouble adjusting to the new rules for trading goods, and approximately 44% of businesses are also having trouble obtaining visas for their employees.
Small and medium-sized businesses made up roughly 92% of the businesses surveyed.
“The greatest ever imposition of bureaucracy on business has been Brexit. A manufacturer in the East Midlands was cited in the BCC survey report as saying, “Simple importing of parts to fix broken machines or raw materials from the EU have become a major time-consuming nightmare for small businesses.”

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), which conducts Britain’s largest quarterly business survey, has proposed, among other things, a supplementary deal with the EU and side deals with the EU and member states to enable UK businesses to travel for longer periods of time and work in Europe.
