Sister of the Supreme Leader of Iran opposed his
Budrigannews.com – According to a letter published by her France-based son, a sister of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has criticized his crackdown on nationwide protests and urged the feared Revolutionary Guards to lay down their weapons.
Since the death of 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in police custody on September 16, Iran has been gripped by unrest. and is in the midst of a three-day general strike that began on Monday.
According to the letter, which was dated “December 2022,” Badri Hosseini Khamenei, who lives in Iran, criticized the clerical establishment from the time of the Islamic Republic’s late founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to her brother’s rule.
In the letter that was posted on Twitter on Wednesday by her son Mahmoud Moradkhani, she wrote, “I think it is appropriate now to declare that I oppose my brother’s actions and I express my sympathy with all mothers mourning the crimes of the Islamic Republic, from the time of Khomeini to the current era of the despotic caliphate of Ali Khamenei.”
The letter stated, “The Revolutionary Guards and mercenaries of Ali Khamenei should lay down their weapons as soon as possible and join the people before it is too late.”
Iran’s elite force, the Revolutionary Guards, oversees a vast business empire and has assisted in the establishment of proxies throughout the Middle East.
Farideh Moradkhani, the activist daughter of Khamenei, was detained by authorities in November after calling on foreign governments to cut all ties to Tehran.
