Shootout in California claimed lives of 6 people including child

Budrigannews.com – On Monday, six people, including a six-month-old baby cradled in the arms of her 17-year-old mother, were shot dead at a home in California’s main agricultural valley. Authorities referred to the incident as a “horrific massacre” and a targeted attack.
According to Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux, deputies had executed a drug-related search warrant at the same residence last week, establishing a connection between the murders and the illegal drug trade.
Boudreaux explained to reporters at the scene, “We believe this was a message being sent.” We think this was a family that was being targeted.”
He stated that two suspects were still out there.
After multiple shots were heard early on Monday, authorities responded. Some of the victims were discovered in the house, while others were found in the street.
According to Boudreaux, one victim was alive and wounded when authorities arrived, but he later passed away at a hospital.
Goshen, a 5,400-person farm community roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, was the location of the attacks.
Boudreaux later told the Los Angeles Times that the infant and the 17-year-old mother’s bodies were found in a ditch outside the house. Both of them had been shot in the head.
An elderly woman was among several others who were hit in the head by the bullet. Two women managed to hide out on the property in a trailer and survived.
“I think it has something to do specifically with the cartel. “This was not your typical low-end gang member, based on the level of violence,” Boudreaux told the newspaper.
“They are familiar with what they are doing and know what they are doing if (they) are specifically shooting everyone in the head.”
According to the newspaper, one person was arrested as a result of the search warrant issued last week, and guns, marijuana, and methamphetamine were seized.
