Shaquille O’Neal and tennis athlete Naomi Osaka suspended from trial in FTX case-Judge

Budrigannews.com – Because it is unclear whether Naomi Osaka, a tennis player, and Shaquille O’Neal, a former NBA superstar, have been served, a federal judge in Florida, United States, is considering removing them from the FTX lawsuit.
U.S. District Judge Kevin Moore instructed the plaintiffs to provide justification as to why O’Neal and Osaka should not be dropped from the suit in a paperless order. Moore says that it’s not clear whether the two sports stars have been served. The FTX customers had until December to present their case to the judge.
The judge issued a number of orders on March 9. This was one of them. Moore reprimanded other famous defendants in another order for asking to postpone a scheduled conference without following the proper procedures.
Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, Kevin O’Leary, David Ortiz, and Trevor Lawrence were among the famous defendants who requested an extension of time. Nonetheless, the appointed authority called attention to that the solicitation ought to have come from the offended party’s side. Moore wrote:
“The court requested offended party, not the litigants, to move for an expansion of time to hold the booking gathering.”
According to Moore, either the plaintiff may request an extension of time to hold the conference or the conference will proceed as scheduled.
In the meantime, as lawsuits against FTX mounted, some plaintiffs requested that the lawsuits against the bankrupt exchange be combined. However, a judge denied the request for consolidation on March 8, pointing out that the defendants have not yet been permitted to respond. Jacqueline Corley, a U.S. District Judge, recently turned down a request to combine five proposed class-action lawsuits against FTX.
The same day, Sam Bankman-Fried’s lawyers said that the criminal trial, which was supposed to start in October 2023, might need to be moved back. Even though the attorneys did not make a formal request for a date change, they said that it might be necessary due to the fact that they are still waiting for the evidence to be turned over and Bankman-Fried was charged with more crimes in February.
