Sam Bankman-Fried refused to give a confession
Budrigannews.com – On Jan. 3, former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), who is free on a $250 million bail bond, is expected to plead not guilty to the alleged financial frauds involving FTX and Alameda.
At the request of the U.S. government, SBF was detained in the Bahamas on suspicion of stealing funds from the FTX crypto exchange and defrauding investors. SBF will appear before U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan on January 3 after being granted bail following a hearing on December 22.
According to a report from Reuters, SBF is anticipated to enter a plea of not guilty to the criminal charges during the hearing. The former FTX CEO was accused by the SEC of violating the anti-fraud provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Securities Act of 1933 on December 13.
During initial court hearings, defendants have the option of pleading not guilty or changing their plea at any time.
A transfer of funds from Alameda wallets on December 28 raised suspicions regarding SBF’s involvement in the anomaly. The businessman, on the other hand, swiftly distanced himself from the alleged rumors.
None of these are me. I’m not and couldn’t be moving any of those funds; I don’t have access to them anymore.https://t.co/5Gkin30Ny5
