Sam Bankman-Fried Met with Democrats 2 Months Before FTX Crash

Budrigannews.com – At least four times in 2022, former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried met with government officials at the White House, reportedly just two months before his crypto empire collapsed.

The majority of the meetings were made public in the White House’s monthly visitor logs. These logs show that Bankman-Fried met with the President’s Counselor Steve Ricchetti on April 22, 2022, and May 12, 2022, as well as with policy advisor Charlotte Butash on May 13. However, a Bloomberg report from December 29 says that the former FTX CEO also met with Ricchetti on September 8, in a meeting that did not appear in the visitor logs.

The information has piqued the interest of members of the crypto community, who are curious about the circumstances surrounding the apparent revolving door of FTX visits to the White House.

According to the report, sources claimed that discussions at the meeting were centered on the crypto industry, exchanges, and pandemic prevention rather than politics.

Despite the fact that Bankman-Fried was born in the Bahamas, it is believed that he made frequent trips to Washington to influence crypto policy and establish connections there. He was previously accused of attempting to divert regulators’ attention away from centralized exchanges like FTX and toward decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms like the lending protocol MakerDAO.

In an interview with crypto vlogger Tiffany Fong on November 16, Bankman-Fried acknowledged that he had given roughly the same amount to both parties, but that his “Republican donations were dark.” Bankman-Fried was a significant donor to the Democrats.
