Russia’s rocket attacks on Ukraine continue
Budrigannews.com – On Friday, Russia fired a slew of missiles at Ukraine’s power grid, causing nine energy facilities to be damaged, killing at least three people, and forcing Kyiv to implement emergency blackouts across the country as winter set in.
A Kyiv official described the latest major attack on vital infrastructure since October as one of the largest missile barrages since Russia invaded in February, and many people fled to shelters during morning rush hour.
The mayor of Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine, stated that the damage was “colossal” and threatened to leave many individuals without heating in the frigid winter months. “Serious damage” was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk central governor.
According to the top general of Ukraine, air defenses destroyed 60 of 76 incoming missiles that were directed at critical infrastructure. Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesperson for the Air Force, stated that Moscow deliberately attempted to divert the air defenses by flying warplanes near Ukraine.
“They want to kill us and turn us into slaves. However, we will not give up. As she sought shelter at a Kyiv railway station, Lidiya Vasilieva, 53, declared, “We will endure.” I want the war to end quickly. But I’m willing to wait however long is necessary.”
Authorities reported that three people were killed in the center of Kryvyi Rih and a fourth died in a fire in the southern Kherson region after an apartment block was shelled before the missile strike.
A senior official stated that the attack in President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih also left at least 13 people injured, including four young children.
Ukrenergo, the grid operator, warned that power restoration would take longer and that repair times would be longer than in the past.
“What we as of now see is harm to around nine (power) producing offices. “At this time, we are still verifying the damage,” German Galushchenko, the Energy Minister, told national television.
Parts of Kyiv and the central city of Poltava were among the areas without power. Basic foundation was hit in the northeastern district of Kharkiv, the Dark Ocean area of Odesa and in Vinnytsia in west focal Ukraine.
Three boisterous impacts were heard in Kyiv and smoke floated above, Reuters witnesses said. Power was cut off to some railroad lines.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated, “There is colossal damage to infrastructure, primarily the energy system.” I appeal to your patience as this situation unfolds. I am aware that there is no lighting, heating, or water supply in your homes.”

According to Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of Zelenskiy’s office, emergency power shutdowns have been implemented across the nation to make repairs possible.
The initial air alert in Kyiv was lifted four hours after it was announced as children went to school and people went to work.
The underground Kyiv metro system, which has one of the deepest stations in the world, was used as a bomb shelter after it stopped working.
Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February, asserts that attacks on fundamental infrastructure are legitimate from a military perspective. According to Ukraine, acts of violence against civilians are war crimes.
Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko wrote on Facebook (NASDAQ:): “The goal of the Russian Federation is for Ukrainians to be constantly under pressure, to go down into bomb shelters almost every day, to feel discomfort due to power outages or water interruptions.”
“However, Ukraine’s position remains the same: leave it alone without light, however #withoutyou. We’ll make it. We’ll prevail. We will reconstruct.”
