Russian oil at $30 per barrel, for whom?
Budrigannews.com – Zelensky said on Saturday that the prices of Russian-grade oil should be limited at the level of 30-40 US dollars, which is higher than the level proposed by the group of seven countries. EU governments disagree on the G7 proposal to set a minimum price of $65-70 per barrel so that Moscow does not disrupt oil supplies to Ukraine.
It is expected to come into force on December 5. Zelensky, who has repeatedly called on allies to impose tougher sanctions against Russia around the world, said: “This, I think, is an artificial ban. The limit being considered today is approximately $60. ”
He stated in a press release: “We want sanctions to be really effective in the fight against sanctions, so that the limits are at the level of $30, so that the Russian side feels its sanctions.” The purpose of the restriction is to prohibit shipping, insurance and insurance companies from processing Russian oil in any country if it is not sold at a price lower than that set by G7 and partners. Greece, Cyprus and Malta want to lower the marginal price, while Poland, Estonia and Lithuania insist on significantly lower marginal prices than $65-70.
