Run Joe Biden run-Establishment Democrats

Budrigannews.com – As U.S. President Joe Biden considers whether to run for a second term, the Establishment Democrats who gathered this past weekend in Philadelphia have one message for him: Joe, run away.

Sharif Street, the Democratic Party’s leader in Pennsylvania, said at the party’s conference, “I am looking forward to supporting the president,” in this political battleground state that helped secure Joe Biden’s victory over former President Donald Trump in 2020.

Even though Biden, who is 80 years old, is well-liked by party officials, he continues to face declining poll numbers and calls to step aside after decades in politics to make room for a younger generation of leaders.

Biden has stated that he will run for reelection, but he has not confirmed his intentions. No Democratic challenger has announced that they will run.

Prior to what some party leaders anticipate to be a crowded and bruising presidential primary season, Biden’s Republican rivals are emerging from bitter leadership fights at the Republican National Committee and the House of Representatives. This comes as Biden speaks to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) winter conference on Friday.

As the 2024 election season gets underway, Democrats are optimistic about the president’s and the party’s prospects due to their relatively strong performance at the midterm elections in 2022.

As Biden took the stage, the hundreds of party loyalists who had gathered for the president’s speech yelled “four more years.”

In the speech, Biden praised the accomplishments of his administration, including the appointment of the first Black women to the U.S. Supreme Court and the signature climate change legislation that was passed.

Biden said, to loud applause, “We’re just getting started.”

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris attended a fundraiser prior to his remarks, which is anticipated to intensify in the coming weeks as the re-election campaign develops.

Harris stated to donors that “momentum” would be her one word to describe 2023.

Biden’s term has been marked by the economic effects of the global health crisis, including soaring inflation, since he took office in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On January 19, a poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos found that Biden’s public approval rating was 40%, which was close to the lowest level of his presidency. Republicans had criticized Biden for having classified documents found in his home.

This week, Biden went on a tour of U.S. cities to promote projects that were funded by the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that was passed in 2021. Among the stops he made was in Philadelphia, where he talked about efforts to replace stale lead pipes.

It is anticipated that attendees of this weekend’s DNC meeting will unanimously approve Biden’s redesigned 2024 primary calendar.

On February 3, 2024, that calendar would move South Carolina into first place in presidential nominating contests, replacing a state in which Biden’s 2020 presidential ambitions were nearly dashed by a majority of Black Democratic voters.

The anticipated approval demonstrates Biden’s hold on the party and would make it even more difficult for a rival Democrat to run for president.

The primary calendar change was questioned by some progressive activists.

Sam Rosenthal, the political director for RootsAction, stated, “Joe Biden has repeatedly said he plans to seek renomination.” “It would simply be unethical for the DNC to allow Biden to dictate the order of the primaries and key contest rules before the race begins in the event that there is a Democratic challenger.”

Throughout Thursday and Friday, the activists set up a mobile billboard with the slogan “DON’T MANIPULATE THE PRIMARIES” and distributed literature titled “Don’t Run Joe.”

While there were “no divisive issues” in the party, Democrats needed to do a better job of talking to voters, according to Michigan Representative Debbie Dingell, which Biden won in 2020.

She stated, “We are not messaging.” I believe that’s why you see the president traveling and praising his accomplishments.”

The foundation for a campaign launch in the coming weeks has been being laid by Biden’s assistants.

They have largely rejected suggestions that Democrats require new leadership as well as polls like the Reuters/Ipsos one that show Biden has 40% approval, which is the same as Trump’s at this point in his presidency.

Although Trump has already begun his campaign for president in 2024, he is likely to be challenged in the primary, possibly by his former UN ambassador, Nikki Haley.
