Budrigannews.com – According to reports from the police and the media, a woman who was caught stealing presents from beneath Robert De Niro’s Christmas tree was taken into custody by New York City police after breaking into the actor’s Upper East Side apartment early on Monday.
According to Arthur Tsui, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department, officers saw the woman enter the basement of the building on East 65th Street around 2.45 a.m. local time and discovered signs of forced entry.
According to Tsui, the 30-year-old woman was caught stealing items from the apartment by officers, who knew her from a series of previous arrests for burglary.
According to ABC News, she was stuffing presents into a bag from under a Christmas tree. De Niro, 79, was at home at the time and heard the commotion and went downstairs.
Tsui stated that the woman was in custody and that charges were pending against her. The woman was likely to appear in court to be arraigned later on Monday or early on Tuesday, according to a spokesman for the Manhattan district attorney. It was not immediately clear if she had a lawyer.
