Budrigannews.com – According to data released on Monday, retail sales in the euro zone rebounded much less than anticipated month-over-month in January and were still lower than a year ago, highlighting the weakening of consumer demand in the euro zone and the overall economic slowdown.
Retail sales in the 20 countries that share the euro decreased by 2.3% year-over-year in January, according to Eurostat, the EU’s statistics office.
Reuters polled economists predicted a 1.0% month-over-month increase and a 1.8% year-over-year decrease, but this was significantly below their estimates.
Financial experts see retail deals as a decent intermediary pointer for customer interest, which has endured as a result of wild expansion, set off primarily by rising energy and food costs, yet additionally saturating different areas of the economy.
