Budrigannews.com – A man who disarmed a gunman who killed 11 people, a former Afghan ambassador, and the family of Tyre Nichols, who died after being beaten by Memphis police, will be among the guests at the State of the Union address that U.S. President Joe Biden will give on Tuesday.

It is anticipated that Biden will use the speech, which is given in a joint session of Congress, to lay out his policy priorities as an unofficial start to his campaign for president in 2024.

Some of the guests who are anticipated to attend are as follows:

Connor Tsay: Authorities hailed Tsay as a hero for disarming the gunman who killed 11 people at a Lunar New Year celebration in Monterey Park, California. He was praised for stopping more bloodshed with his actions.

Representative Judy Chu, a Democrat from California, invited him.

RowVaughn Wells, Tyre Nichols’s mother, and Rodney Wells, Tyre Nichols’ stepfather. After being beaten by police during a Jan. 7 traffic stop, Nichols, a Black driver, died. He was shot and killed by five Memphis police officers, according to charges.

This week, the parents accepted an invitation from the White House and the Democrat chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, U.S. Representative Steven Horsford.

First lady Jill Biden invited Oksana Markarova, the ambassador of Ukraine to the United States. “Recognition of sustained U.S. support for Ukraine nearly a year after Russia launched its unprovoked attack,” said the White House.

Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has also been invited by the White House. In October, an intruder attacked him in their California home. The White House stated, “The intruder’s alleged intent to harm and kidnap the former Speaker was reportedly political motivated.”

Bono, the lead singer of the Irish band U2, was included on the White House list for his work to combat poverty and HIV/AIDS.

Cori Bush, a Democrat from Missouri, stated that she had invited Michael Brown Sr., the father of Michael Brown, who was shot by a Ferguson police officer in 2014 and killed, who was the inspiration for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Roya Rahmani, a former Afghan ambassador to the United States, From December 2018 to July 2021, Afghanistan’s first female ambassador to the United States held the position. After a 20-year conflict, the United States completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.

Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, invited Rahmani. “Will send a signal to the women of Afghanistan that they have not been forgotten,” said Republican McCaul.

Sheriff Jeffrey T. Smith of Fort Plain, New York, will be the guest of honor at Rep. Elise Stefanik’s State of the Union address. Stefanik criticized Biden’s policies regarding law enforcement and emphasized the problem of crime in a statement.

Eugenie Ouedraogo, a nursing student and mother of three, was invited, according to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, to discuss the issue of affordable childcare.

Two newcomers to the Democratic House have invited the parents of two school shooting victims as guests.

Rep. Maxwell Frost, a Democrat from Florida, and Rep. Greg Casar, a Democrat from Texas, will host Brett Cross, whose son Uziyah Garca was one of the victims of a shooting in Uvalde, Texas, in May, in which 19 children and two teachers were killed, and Manuel Oliver, the father of Joaquin Oliver, one of the 17 victims of the shooting in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.

Darlene Gaffney, a cancer survivor, is one of the White House’s other guests; Amanda Zurawski, who couldn’t get an abortion because Texas banned it, and Doug Griffin, who lost his 20-year-old daughter to a fentanyl overdose, both died.
