Pixels has hosted what could be the very first Web3 in-game wedding.

After meeting his partner at the 2022 Axie Infinity convention, AxieCon, popular Web3 content creator Cloudwhite decided there was no better way to tie the knot than in a Web3 game — making him possibly the first to do so.

“Live streaming and hosting the wedding in Pixels Online was pivotal for my family and friends participating in Wisconsin, and Laura’s family and friends participating in Colombia,” Cloudwhite tells Web3 Gamer.

“The idea of a Web3 wedding was extremely personal to us, but it is also a viable option for family and friends from around the world that can’t make it to the physical event,” he says.

Pixels is a laid-back adventure game where players can farm, explore, own land and flex NFTs within the community. The game got behind the wedding by offering exclusive in-game wedding outfits.

Gamers who attended the wedding got to dress up and look sharp while celebrating Cloudwhite’s special moment.

The turnout was so big that Cloudwhite is probably thankful the event was virtual, or he’d be hit with a huge bill. 3,789 users bought suits, and 1,865 went for wedding dresses.

Cloudwhite admits he’s a bit “jealous” of everyone who got to attend because they enjoyed all the fun in-game experiences while he was caught up with other stuff, like making one of the biggest commitments of his life.

He explains that one of his favorite moments was “watching people create their own side events in-game, such as the bachelor party at The Drunken Goose.”

Cloudwhite and his partner, Laura, tied the knot at Terra Villa Central in the Pixels game on Sept. 7, and it quickly became a hot topic in the Web3 gaming community.

Even Sky Mavis, the creator of Axie Infinity and the Ronin network that Pixels is based on, shared the news on social media.

Cloudwhite is grateful to the Web3 gaming community, especially the Ronin crew. He explains they had his back and helped the couple stay connected while they sorted out the logistics of living in the same country.

“The Ronin Network community around the world has been pivotal to our journey. Many have hosted us while traveling and waiting for Laura’s K-1 visa approval in America,” he explains.

“We traveled to eight countries. We waited 16 months for a K-1 visa. She arrived safely in the USA with the help of family and friends, and we planned our wedding in three short weeks. This historic wedding in Pixels has been six years in the making.”

Immortal Rising 2 accumulates 400,000 pre-registrations, exec reveals the secret ingredients

Dark fantasy idle RPG Immortal Rising 2 recently racked up over 400,000 pre-registrations before its launch on Sept. 13. One of the executives behind the game speculates on what’s been driving all the excitement before its launch.

“Immortal Rising 1 was one of the most successful idle RPGs, topping revenue charts in its category for eight consecutive months in South Korea,” Planetarium Labs chief publishing officer Jake Lee tells Web3 Gamer.

“It’s a living and proven IP that successfully onboarded millions of Web2 users with a loyal player base,” he adds.

Although the popular traditional game has transitioned to Web3 and is being marketed as such, Lee explains that it won’t throw gamers too deep into Web3 right away. Some features will be gradually introduced over the next few months.

“The Web3 features will be introduced in the coming months, and our goal is to naturally bridge the gap between the two audiences,” he adds.

Lee explains that a “strong team” is backing the game, noting it has even brought on the lead game designer from the smash hit Dave The Diver, which sold 1 million copies in just 10 days and quickly became one of the top-rated titles upon release in January 2023.

Planetarium Labs, the game’s publisher, is the same Web3 project behind Nine Chronicles, a fully onchain idle RPG that Lee claims has over 100,000 monthly active users.

Lee says he can’t reveal too many specifics about the game’s tokenomics just yet, but the goal is to have a sustainable strategy for the token, focusing on long-term stability rather than a quick spike in price.
