Pharmaceutical company Amgen cuts 300 employees
By Kristina Sobol
Budrigannews.com – Amgen Inc., a pharmaceutical company, cited recent organizational changes to its commercial team as the reason for the layoffs of 300 U.S. employees, or approximately 1.2% of its total workforce, announced on Monday.
According to its most recent annual regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, as of December 31, 2021, the company had approximately 24,200 employees working in over 50 countries.
In recent weeks, a series of layoffs across corporate America have been led by titans of Wall Street and big tech companies. Amgen’s decision to reduce its workforce demonstrates how the healthcare industry has begun to be impacted by rapid interest rate increases and a waning surge in demand following the pandemic.
