Peru returns Ambassador to Mexico

Budrigannews.com – In response to comments from her Mexican counterpart that branded her government as unconstitutional, Peru’s President Dina Boluarte made the announcement on Friday that the country’s ambassador in Mexico would be returning.
According to Boluarte, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s earlier remarks about her administration violate the international right to non-interference.
A request for clarification was not immediately answered by the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
Following the attempted dissolution of Congress that led to the impeachment of former President Pedro Castillo, Boluarte took over as president of the South American nation on December 7.
Boluarte said that Lopez Obrador had supported Castillo’s plan for a “coup d’etat.”
She stated in a television address, “With his statements, Mr. Lopez violates the principle of international law concerning non-interference in internal affairs, as well as those referring to the defense and promotion of democracy.”
Friday, Lopez Obrador told a news conference that Castillo would continue to receive support in Mexico because he had been “illegally ousted.”
Following a meeting that Lopez Obrador and Lilia Paredes, Lilia Castillo’s wife, had earlier this week in Mexico, Boluarte made the remarks.
