Pence to testify in court against Trump

Budrigannews.com – Politico reported on Tuesday that former US Vice President Mike Pence is preparing to resist a grand jury subpoena for testimony regarding Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
According to media reports last week, the special counsel leading investigations into efforts to overturn the 2020 election result and classified documents found at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence subpoenaed Pence and former national security adviser Robert O’Brien.
According to Politico, which cited two people who are familiar with Pence’s thinking, Pence will argue that his previous position as president of the Senate, which makes him a member of the legislative branch, protects him from certain demands made by the Justice Department.
Politico added that Pence’s decision to oppose Special Counsel Jack Smith’s request had little to do with executive privilege.
Outside of normal business hours, it was not immediately possible to reach Pence’s office.
