Pemex engulfed by fires

Budrigannews.com – Five people were still missing as of Thursday evening as a result of three fires that broke out at various facilities in Mexico and the United States that were owned and operated by the state-owned Mexican oil company Pemex.
In a statement, the company said that a fire at a storage facility in the state of Veracruz left five people missing, including three who were taken to the hospital.
The company added that the cause of that fire, which had been put out, had not yet been determined.
In a subsequent statement on Thursday evening, Pemex confirmed that a separate fire at its Minatitlan refinery in Veracruz, which also injured five people, was under control.
Pemex stated, “it is presumed that the possible cause of the fire was product runoff on a hot surface,” and that the fire had not disrupted refinery operations.
A community alert on Thursday also reported a third fire in a unit at Pemex’s oil refinery in Deer Park, Texas. Later, an all-clear notification was added to the update.
According to reports in local media, a vehicle accident that occurred inside a Pemex refinery in the Mexican state of Hidalgo earlier this week resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals.
