Oracle CEO Safra Catz to depart Walt Disney board

(Reuters) – Walt Disney (NYSE:) said on Friday that Oracle (NYSE:) chief executive Safra Catz is departing the entertainment company’s board after six years.

Catz was elected to Disney’s board in 2017 along with Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:)’s former CEO Francis deSouza, at a time when the company was looking to acquire Twenty-First Century Fox Inc (NASDAQ:)’s media empire.

Disney CEO Robert Iger said Catz “has provided invaluable insight that has helped shape (Disney’s) long-term strategic planning amid a rapidly changing technological landscape.”

Following Catz’s departure, Disney’s board will be down to 11 members.
