Oil storage tank exploded in Colombia
Budrigannews.com – Authorities in Barranquilla, a Caribbean city in Colombia, said that a firefighter who fell during the explosion was killed when a fuel tank burst into flames early on Wednesday.
In a Twitter message in which he pledged to support the city’s mayor, Jaime Pumarejo, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro identified the firefighter as Javier Solano, 53.
Pumarejo told journalists, “Right now the fire is being controlled and allowed to burn out at the tank, which is on fire,” and he also said that people were being evacuated from the area around the tank.
Authorities stated that while firefighters wait for the fire to consume all of the fuel, operations to control it could take three to four days.
