Nvidia and Foxconn cooperate in field of creating platform for transport
Budrigannews.com – Nvidia, a chipmaker (NASDAQ:) On Tuesday, the company and Foxconn, a manufacturer of electronic components, announced a partnership to create platforms for autonomous vehicles.
Foxconn, a contract manufacturer from Taiwan, stated that it would produce automobile electronic control units (ECUs) based on the DRIVE Orin chip from Nvidia, which is designed specifically for computing in connected and autonomous vehicles.
Foxconn stated that the ECUs will serve the global automotive market.
Nvidia reported $251 million in third-quarter revenue from the automotive sector, where it sees a $300 billion market opportunity.
According to the chipmaker, the partnership will enable it to scale up efforts to meet rising demand for autonomous and connected vehicle chips.
For autonomous driving, Foxconn, which has a vehicle manufacturing facility in Ohio, said that its vehicles will have ECUs based on Nvidia’s DRIVE Hyperion and DRIVE Orin sensors.
Foxconn is contracted to produce PEAR, Fisker Inc.’s second car model, as well as electric vehicles for Lordstown Motors Corp. Additionally, it produces Apple Inc. its goods.
