Budrigannews.com – Police told local media that a bus carrying 60 people fell off a cliff early on Saturday, killing at least 24 people.
In a statement, Peru’s transportation supervisory agency (SUTRAN) confirmed the crash but did not specify how many people were killed or injured.
According to SUTRAN, the accident, which involved a bus for the company Q’Orianka Tours Aguila Dorada, took place in the district of El Alto in the extreme north of Peru.
According to SUTRAN, initial investigations revealed that the bus appeared to have an up-to-date accident insurance policy and safety inspection.
Due to the large number of drivers operating vehicles on dangerous roads and lacking proper training, road accidents in Peru are fairly common. When a bus slid off a highway in the Andes Mountains in 2021, 29 people were killed.
