Number of victims is growing after mutual shelling of Ukraine and Russia
Budrigannews.com – Russian missiles struck a market in the village of Shevchenkove in eastern Ukraine on Monday, killing a 60-year-old woman and wounding several others, according to Ukrainian officials.
In what it claimed to be Shevchenkove, southeast of the regional capital of Kharkiv, rescue workers were seen sifting through large piles of rubble, burning wreckage, and a large crater in footage posted by public broadcaster Suspilne on the messaging app Telegram.
In a Telegram post, the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleh Synehubov, stated that “sadly a 60-year-old woman died.”
“All other victims were taken to the hospital. They are being helped by doctors. “He stated that rescue workers continue to clear the debris.
He had previously stated that at least seven people had been injured, one of whom was a 13-year-old girl.
The head of the presidential administration, Andriy Yermak, also said that one person had died and sent Telegram a picture of the market in flames.
He wrote, criticizing Russia for the attack: ordinary terrorists”
Reuters was unable to independently verify the attack’s reports and images immediately.
According to Suspilne, a local official said that the attack damaged at least three pavilions and a shopping center, but that Monday was not market day.
