North Korea is preparing to launch missiles from submarines

Budrigannews.com – The Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday, a few days prior to the visit of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, that the military in South Korea has detected signs that North Korea may be preparing to test a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).
According to Yonhap, citing an unidentified South Korean military source, the military discovered preparations this week in Sinpo, North Korea’s South Hamgyong Province. This is consistent with a report this week from a think tank based in the United States that cited commercial satellite imagery.
According to a statement released on Saturday, the presidential office of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is aware of signs and movements suggesting North Korean provocations, including SLBMs.
Next week, Vice President Harris of the United States will travel to the region and meet with leaders of Japan and South Korea.
During a briefing on Friday, a senior administration official indicated that a nuclear test or other form of provocation was possible during Harris’ visit to the region, but that they had no plans to make any predictions or announcements.
For the first time in roughly four years, an aircraft carrier from the United States arrived in South Korea on Friday to join other military vessels for drills with South Korean forces.
North Korea has criticized previous joint exercises and military deployments by the United States as preparations for war and evidence of Washington and Seoul’s hostile policies.
