New rules on coal imports in India

Budrigannews.com – A high-ranking government official stated on Thursday that India’s recent directive to power plants regarding coal imports was a preventative measure as the nation anticipates continuing high demand for electricity.
India requested this week that all power plants import and blend 6% of their coal requirements because it is anticipated that domestic coal supplies will be inadequate due to high consumption.
Thursday, Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena told reporters, “It is a matter of abundance caution.”
