New Amazon app for sporting goods
Budrigannews.com – The Information reported on Wednesday that Amazon (NASDAQ:) is working on a sports-specific standalone app.
According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has increased his focus on the company’s plans for streaming. He recently said that live sports streaming is one area where the company wants to keep spending money, even though Amazon is trying harder to cut costs. He called live sports “a one-of-a-kind asset.”
Amazon’s standard Prime membership already includes some streaming rights, including some matches from the Premier League and the NFL’s Thursday Night Football franchise.

The company, on the other hand, is said to think that the new app would make its sports content offerings stand out more and reduce clutter in its current Prime Video app.
According to The Information, the e-commerce and overall tech giant has yet to announce whether or not it will launch the app or whether or not it will charge separately for sports content.
Google and Apple are making moves in the market this year, so Amazon isn’t the only company looking to expand its live sports streaming service.
