Netherlands and the US deal against China
Budrigannews.com – According to sources familiar with the situation, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday that Dutch officials are planning to implement new restrictions on the export of chip-making equipment to China.
Earlier this month, Dutch Trade Minister Liesje Schreinemacher stated that the Netherlands was in talks with the U.S. government regarding new export restrictions for semiconductor equipment to China. The report comes after Schreinemacher’s statement.
Since 2018, the Dutch government has refused to issue licenses to the country’s largest semiconductor equipment manufacturer, ASML Holdings NV, to ship its most advanced machines to China because they are deemed “dual use” and have the potential to be used in the military. This decision was made in response to pressure from the United States.
