Netanyahu forms a government with a delay
Budrigannews.com – According to a statement released by Herzog’s office on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu has been granted a 10-day extension to form a new government. He now has until December 21 to do so.
Following a right-wing victory in an election on November 1, Netanyahu was selected to lead a new government. He has the support of the majority in parliament, but the agreements for the coalition have not yet been finalized.
Netanyahu sought a two-week extension because his initial mandate was set to expire on Sunday. He was granted an additional ten days by Herzog, whose job as head of state is primarily ceremonial.
“These are complicated days for Israeli society when disagreements regarding major issues take steps to destroy and light savagery and contempt,” Herzog said in a letter to Netanyahu his office unveiled.
He demanded the formation of a coalition that engages in respectful dialogue and a government that represents the entire nation.
