Moscow calls for accountability those responsible for explosion Nord Stream

Budrigannews.com – After an investigative journalist claimed that U.S. divers blew up the Nord Stream gas pipelines at the White House’s direction, the Kremlin said on Thursday that the world should know the truth and that those responsible should be punished.

On September 26, seismologists detected explosions and a sharp drop in pressure on both pipelines, sparking speculation about sabotage of one of Russia’s most important energy corridors.

Seymour Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, stated in a blog post that an unidentified source claimed that President Joe Biden had instructed U.S. navy divers to use explosives to destroy the pipelines.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated that Hersh’s blog post deserved more attention and that he was surprised that Western media had not covered it more thoroughly.

Peskov told reporters, “The world must discover the truth about who carried out this act of sabotage.” A very perilous precedent exists here: “Anyone can do it again anywhere in the world if they have done it once.”

He added, “The appearance of such materials once again shows the need for an open international investigation of this unprecedented attack on international critical infrastructure,” and that the culprits should be punished.

Although he cautioned against using a blog as a primary source, Peskov stated that it was unfair to disregard such an article.

“The article is certainly remarkable for the depth of analysis and the harmony of presentation… so it would be unfair to ignore it.” “Some points can be disputed, and some points need to be proven.”

Without providing any evidence, Russia has repeatedly claimed that the West was responsible for the explosions that struck the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in September. These multibillion-dollar infrastructure projects transported Russian gas under the Baltic Sea to Germany.

The Nord Stream pipelines, a Kremlin-designed project to circumvent Ukraine and export its gas directly to Germany and further afield in Europe, have been accused by President Vladimir Putin of being destroyed by “Anglo-Saxon” powers.

The ruptures were the result of sabotage, according to investigators from Sweden and Denmark, the exclusive economic zones in which the explosions occurred, but they have not specified who they believe was responsible.

Hersh stated in his blog post, “How America Took Out The Nord Stream Pipeline,” that a plan to destroy the pipelines was devised in 2021 at the highest levels of the United States.

According to the report, a plan for a covert operation to place explosives on the pipelines was developed by a working group of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

This month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Washington was directly involved in the pipeline sabotage.

Since the blog’s appearance, politicians and officials from Russia have gathered to demand answers.

On Thursday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that the report was not unexpected for Russia and that there would be “consequences” for the United States.

The Russian State Duma’s chairman, Vyacheslav Volodin, stated that the report should serve as the foundation for an international investigation aimed at “bringing Biden and his accomplices to justice.”

Volodin added, “compensation to countries affected by the terrorist attack” ought to be paid by the United States.

On Wednesday, the Russian foreign ministry stated that the United States must answer questions regarding its role in the explosions that occurred last year on the undersea Nord Stream gas pipelines.
