Midday Movers: Warner Bros. Discovery, Carvana, iRobot and More

Investing.com — U.S. stocks zigzagged on Friday after a stronger than expected July jobs report. Here are the midday movers for Aug. 5:

Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:WBD) shares tumbled 15% after it reported a $3.4 billion loss for the quarter and slowing growth in streaming. Restructuring and transaction charges were partly to blame.
- Carvana Co (NYSE:CVNA) stock soared 31% after the online used car seller said second quarter sales volume spiked. It is cutting costs, including a plan to lay off 12% of its employees.
- iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ:IRBT) stock rose 19% after Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) said it would buy the smart vacuum maker for $1.7 billion.
- Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) shares rose 2.9% as the social media company’s battle with Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk continues. Late Thursday, Twitter answered a countersuit Musk filed in Delaware, denying it had hoodwinked him into agreeing to the $44 billion deal.
- AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE:AMC) shares rose more than 13% after the largest theater chain announced plans to pay shareholders a dividend in the form of preferred shares. AMC is benefitting as people flock back to the movies, amid a summer of blockbusters led by Tom Cruise’s .
