Investing.com — U.S. stocks were mixed on Monday as investors awaited the July inflation report. Here are the midday movers for Aug. 8:
-
Bed Bath & Beyond Inc (NASDAQ:BBBY) shares jumped 40% on no news as meme stock investors embraced the trade again. Fellow meme stock AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE:AMC) jumped 15%.
- NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares fell 8% after the chip maker said second-quarter revenue would fall short of expectations, mainly because of a 33% drop in gaming revenue.
- Palantir Technologies Inc (NYSE:PLTR) stock fell 13% after it lowered its third quarter and full-year guidance, saying it was hard to predict the timing of government contracts.
- BioNTech SE (NASDAQ:BNTX) shares fell 10% as the Covid-19 vaccine maker missed expectations. It did reiterate its forecast for 2022 and said its variant-targeted booster shot would be available in the fourth quarter, potentially boosting results.
- Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE:TSN) shares fell 8% after a disappointing quarter, and it cut its guidance because people aren’t buying as much meat these days. Sales of pork, chicken and prepared foods fell.
