Mexico’s air rating to recover next year-Volaris
Budrigannews.com – In a presentation released in advance of its investors’ day on Tuesday, Mexican low-cost airline Volaris stated that it anticipates the country regaining its U.S. aviation rating by the last quarter of 2023.
In the presentation, the airline said that it had plans in place to move if Mexico got the Category 1 rating from the United States. It said that Mexican government officials had predicted that it could get the rating back as soon as April.
In May 2021, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States downgraded Mexico’s aviation safety rating, stating that the country had not adequately regulated its air carriers “in accordance with minimum international safety standards.”
The move prevents Mexican airlines from adding new flights to the United States and prevents airlines from entering into marketing agreements with one another.
Mexico’s foreign ministry stated in October that the country hoped to recover the rating by completing an action plan by December.
It also stated that officials from the FAA will visit Mexico and set a January date for the final audit.
