Law on financing will include assistance to Ukraine-Schumer
Budrigannews.com – On Tuesday, Chuck Schumer, the leader of the U.S. Senate, stated that he anticipates that a government funding bill that will last a year will include measures to change the way Congress certifies presidential elections and provide additional funding for Ukraine.
On the Senate floor, Schumer stated, “The Senate should be ready to vote on a bill to keep the federal government operating for one week past the Friday deadline.” The longer-term measure is still the subject of negotiations between Democrats and Republicans.
Schumer stated that support for Ukraine’s fight against Russia and reforms to prevent a repeat of the chaos of January 6, 2021 are shared by both parties. He said exchanges progress forward with different issues.
Schumer stated, “There’s a lot of work left to do.” However, we are hopeful that we will reach our goal if we continue to act in good faith.

The Senate and House of Representatives would need to approve the year-long bill, which would fund the government until October 2023 and likely spend more than $1.5 trillion.
Republicans want to spend more on defense while keeping domestic spending low. That strategy is opposed by Democrats.
