Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the lost 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the were Mercari Inc (TYO:), which rose 5.14% or 122.00 points to trade at 2,496.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Konami Corp. (TYO:) added 2.78% or 365.00 points to end at 13,490.00 and Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.67% or 145.00 points to 5,585.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lasertec Corp (TYO:), which fell 4.80% or 1,120.00 points to trade at 22,195.00 at the close. Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 3.78% or 80.50 points to end at 2,050.50 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:) was down 3.38% or 68.00 points to 1,942.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2376 to 1323 and 176 ended unchanged.
Shares in Konami Corp. (TYO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.78% or 365.00 to 13,490.00.

Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.06% or 0.72 to $68.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.00% or 0.71 to hit $71.77 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 9.50 to trade at $2,515.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.47% to 142.94, while EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 158.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 101.36.
