Japan and U.S. increasing their military presence near North Korea
Budrigannews.com – On Tuesday, North Korea warned of another imminent test of an intercontinental ballistic missile and condemned the Japanese military buildup outlined in a new security strategy, describing it as dangerous and promising to take countermeasures.
As tensions with China, a hostile North Korea, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine stoke fears of war, Japan announced its largest military buildup since World War Two last week.
Japan’s new strategy, according to North Korea’s foreign ministry, effectively formalized “the capability for preemptive attack,” bringing about a “radical” shift in East Asia’s security environment.
The ministry also said that the United States had no right to question North Korea’s defenses because it was “conniving and instigating Japan’s rearmament and reinvasion scheme.”
In a statement released by the North’s KCNA news agency, the official said, “The foolish act of Japan seeking to gratify its blackhearted intention, arms buildup for reinvasion, under the pretext of the DPRK’s legitimate exercise of the right to self-defence can never be justified and tolerated.”
The spokesman used the initials of North Korea’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, when referring to the country.
The spokesperson stated that North Korea would take action to highlight Japan’s “wrong and very dangerous” decision, announcing a “shuddering shiver to be felt soon.”
In defiance of international sanctions, North Korea has tested an unprecedented number of missiles this year, including an ICBM designed to reach the U.S. mainland.
Japan, a staunch ally of the United States, has voiced its disapproval when a number of North Korean missiles have passed over or landed in waters close to Japan.
The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jong, made a separate statement in which she denounced questions regarding North Korea’s alleged attempt to develop a spy satellite and hinted at a technological advancement in its ICBM system.
North Korea terminated two medium-range long range rockets off its east coast on Sunday, considering it an “significant” test for the improvement of a surveillance satellite that it desires to finish by April.
Experts have questioned North Korea’s satellite technology, but Kim Yo Jong mocked them and said that her country’s missile programs, including ICBM development, were moving forward.
Analysts say that a normal launch angle necessitates more advanced technology to resist heat generated during reentry into the atmosphere. North Korea has tested-fired its ICBMs at a steep angle.
Kim Yo Jong stated, “I can clear up their doubts about it.” If we launch an ICBM in the way of a real angle firing straight off, they will immediately recognize it.”
“As of now when our right to presence and improvement is being compromised, how might we stop our development inspired by a paranoid fear of authorizations that we have encountered odiously, not interestingly,” she said.
In their most recent show of force against North Korea, the U.S. Air Force flew B-52 strategic bombers and F-22 fighter jets to South Korea for joint drills with F-35 and F-15K fighter jets, hours after the North’s statements.
The fifth-generation F-22 Raptor stealth fighters, which are currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, took part for the first time since the allies held joint exercises in South Korea in May 2018.

Although the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said it was keeping an eye on the North’s nuclear and missile activities, the spokesman declined to discuss any indications or the possibility of another ICBM test.
