Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian
Budrigannews.com – On Wednesday, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian who, according to the military, had fired on one of their posts in the occupied West Bank. This was the latest in a string of fatalities that have occurred in the past year.
When a driver shot at one of its posts near the settlement of Ofra, the military said in a statement that soldiers doing routine work in the area responded with live fire and started a chase.
According to the military, a suspect got out of the car during the pursuit and fired at the soldiers, who then shot and killed him. The man’s death was confirmed by the Palestinian health ministry, but the details of the incident were not provided.
The military’s account could not be independently verified by Reuters.
The man was claimed as a member by the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an offshoot of the Fatah movement led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
More than 210 Palestinians have died this year, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Some of them died during a brief conflict in Gaza in August, most of them after the military launched a crackdown in the West Bank in response to a series of attacks in Israel. They incorporate aggressors and regular folks.
During the same time, Palestinian attacks in Israel and the West Bank are said to have killed 23 civilians and eight security personnel, according to Israeli authorities.
During a conflict in the Middle East in 1967, Israel took East Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank, all of which are areas that Palestinians want to have their own state. Despite international opposition, the expansion of Jewish settlements on occupied land has continued despite U.S.-sponsored negotiations stalling in 2014.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, the 32-year-old man was originally from Silwad, where Israel took Palestinian land from them to build the Ofra settlement. Israel had previously held him in prison.
