Iran continues to execute protesters

Mizan stated, “Majid Reza Rahnavard was sentenced to death for ‘waging war against God,’ after stabbing to death two members of security forces. He was hanged in public in (the holy Shi’ite city of) Mashahd this morning.”
Social media activists criticized the execution of Rahnavard, a 23-year-old man, as “a criminal act” by the religious establishment to silence opposition.
The United States of America and its allies have strongly condemned Iran’s decision to hang another young man, Mohsen Shekari, who was found guilty on Thursday of blocking a street in Tehran during protests and injuring a security guard with a knife.
Freedoms bunches have said Shekari was tormented and compelled to admit.
According to Amnesty International, in “sham trials designed to intimidate those participating in the popular uprising that has rocked Iran,” Iranian authorities are seeking the death penalty for at least 21 individuals.
Iran’s state media showed footage of Rahnavard stabbing another man who had fallen against a parked motorcycle, then stabbing another person right after.
According to Mizan, Rahnavard was detained 23 days ago while attempting to flee the country. In addition, a higher court upheld his sentence.
As of Sunday, the rights group HRANA reported that 488 protesters had been killed, including 68 minors. It said 62 individuals from the security powers had additionally been killed. According to the report, it is believed that 18,259 protesters have been detained.
While the United Nations claims that the protests have resulted in the deaths of more than 300 people, a high-ranking Iranian body responsible for state security claims that the unrest has resulted in the deaths of 200 people, including members of the security forces.
