Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.03%, while the index lost 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:), which rose 4.36% or 20.10 points to trade at 481.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) added 3.44% or 3.85 points to end at 115.85 and UPL Ltd (NS:) was up 2.44% or 19.10 points to 802.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which fell 1.91% or 93.10 points to trade at 4,778.35 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) declined 1.53% or 6.65 points to end at 428.75 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 1.46% or 39.70 points to 2,682.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.35% to 115.80, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.66% to settle at 175.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which gained 1.58% to close at 617.15.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.46% to 2,682.85 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.33% to settle at 1,099.70 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.76% to 7,183.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1147 to 765 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2054 rose and 1418 declined, while 190 ended unchanged.
Shares in State Bank Of India (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 1.58% or 9.60 to 617.15.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.10% to 13.73.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.06% or 1.05 to $1,808.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.10% or 1.68 to hit $81.66 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.68 to trade at $87.25 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.54% to 81.85, while EUR/INR rose 0.45% to 86.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 104.64.
