India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.22%
Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, IT and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which rose 3.55% or 28.75 points to trade at 838.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 2.62% or 444.25 points to end at 17,406.40 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 1.62% or 54.95 points to 3,446.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 3.88% or 17.05 points to trade at 421.95 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 2.94% or 77.55 points to end at 2,560.40 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 2.81% or 3.90 points to 134.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 2.58% to 17,404.00, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 1.63% to settle at 3,446.90 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.18% to close at 735.05.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.99% to 2,560.20 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 2.49% to settle at 3,131.55 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.42% to 871.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1005 to 830 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1889 rose and 1398 declined, while 150 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.27% to 19.87.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.84% or 14.55 to $1,711.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.50% or 2.24 to hit $87.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.52% or 2.41 to trade at $93.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 79.63, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 79.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 109.10.
