India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.15%
Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which rose 1.42% or 273.35 points to trade at 19,565.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 1.42% or 3.00 points to end at 213.70 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 1.40% or 4.75 points to 345.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which fell 1.71% or 5.00 points to trade at 286.90 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) declined 1.65% or 9.45 points to end at 564.85 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 1.59% or 6.70 points to 413.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.54% to 213.90, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 1.34% to settle at 11,534.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 0.92% to close at 2,396.55.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.73% to 286.75 in late trade, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which lost 1.58% to settle at 413.80 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.20% to 1,078.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 906 to 904 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1647 rose and 1524 declined, while 150 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.88% to 20.79.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.04% or 0.65 to $1,802.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.02% or 0.02 to hit $108.41 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.17% or 1.33 to trade at $112.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.45% to 79.29, while EUR/INR fell 0.65% to 81.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.93% at 105.88.
