India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.10%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 0.10%, while the index fell 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.89% or 92.50 points to trade at 1,984.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) added 3.23% or 98.35 points to end at 3,139.75 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.76% or 69.70 points to 2,592.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:), which fell 6.89% or 335.30 points to trade at 4,532.00 at the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:) declined 5.17% or 122.30 points to end at 2,242.15 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) was down 3.57% or 15.60 points to 420.85.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.22% to 3,138.60, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.76% to settle at 2,591.80 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.44% to close at 179.45.

The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was down 6.89% to 4,532.40 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which lost 5.29% to settle at 2,241.65 and ITC Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.19% to 420.35 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1160 to 724 and 93 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1947 rose and 1416 declined, while 146 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.01% to 13.22 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.13% or 2.65 to $2,034.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.61% or 0.44 to hit $73.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.47 to trade at $76.88 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.23% to 82.11, while EUR/INR fell 0.27% to 89.68.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 101.71.
