India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 1.05%
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Auto, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 3.75% or 14.10 points to trade at 389.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) added 3.68% or 914.10 points to end at 25,775.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.67% or 15.60 points to 440.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 3.13% or 227.05 points to trade at 7,032.50 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) declined 1.40% or 10.75 points to end at 755.55 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was down 1.34% or 211.25 points to 15,509.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 3.52% to 6,808.55, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 3.17% to settle at 3,083.20 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 3.10% to close at 7,668.65.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 3.35% to 7,032.35 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.45% to settle at 755.55 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.15% to 15,509.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 949 to 873 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1666 rose and 1615 declined, while 107 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.58% to 18.67.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.19% or 3.80 to $1,955.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.96% or 0.98 to hit $103.03 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.94 to trade at $108.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.35% to 76.19, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 82.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 100.31.
