India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.89%
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Consumer Durables and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.89%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 6.07% or 20.70 points to trade at 361.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 5.66% or 113.95 points to end at 2,127.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 4.88% or 41.85 points to 900.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 1.25% or 55.00 points to trade at 4,335.00 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 1.13% or 208.45 points to end at 18,180.20 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was down 1.09% or 10.35 points to 935.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 5.69% to 2,128.00, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 4.88% to settle at 900.30 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 3.52% to close at 1,611.30.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.26% to 4,338.35 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.14% to settle at 18,187.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.05% to 686.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1319 to 500 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2173 rose and 998 declined, while 147 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.25% to 19.20 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.23% or 4.05 to $1,740.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.73% or 0.72 to hit $99.25 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.63 to trade at $101.32 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 79.15, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 80.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.69.
